Microsoft Implements CMMC Acceleration Program to Help with CMMC Implementation

The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification is a unified standard for implementing cybersecurity across the defense industrial base. An updated version, CMMC 2.0, was officially introduced in November 2021. The new certification standards meet the high national security requirements while keeping costs to the supply chain at a reasonable level. While implementing new standards can be challenging, Microsoft can help organizations accelerate CMMC implementation.

 

Microsoft’s Relationship with the Department of Defense

Microsoft has been working with the DoD for over four decades. They have used their resources to help government customers and the supply chain in several ways.

 

Notably, Microsoft 365 US government plans are in place to provide organizations in the supply chain with the security solutions they need.

 

Microsoft is currently building the CMMC Acceleration Program. This program aims to provide resources and solutions for partners and DIB to ease the CMMC implementation process.

 

Key Features of Microsoft’s CMMC Acceleration Program

  • Microsoft Product Placemat for CMMC – This feature provides an interactive view of how Microsoft products and services can help you attain CMMC compliance.

  • Microsoft Technical Reference Guide for CMMC – Implementation statements for organizations looking to pursue CMMC compliance while using Microsoft services. You can pair this feature with the Product Placemat mentioned above.

  • Compliance Manager – This feature is available in commercial and government environments. It takes inventory of data protection risks, manages the implantation of complex controls, and stays up to date on certifications. As a result, it is easier to manage CMMC requirements with this manager.

  • Azure Sentinel CMMC Workbook – This feature from Microsoft provides a mechanism for viewing log queries and policies aligned to CMMC controls.
